this is the kind of look i like for living room: grey blue walls or white walls, TONS of books, art and family photos on the walls, rugs, tables, cozy chairs and fabrics, mirrors. bohemian mixed with modern touches. i painted our bookshelf glossy white, and we have art and stacks of books, mirrors, a great great rug i got for a steal at a thrift store for $50...i need to convince my landlord to let me get rid of our carpet. i hate carpet! if i could get wood, and paint our fireplace white, i'd be thrilled.
i'm painting my living room. i think i'm going to do that pale pale blue-grey. our walls are SKY HIGH in one part.. we have to get an extension ladder.
i LOVE the photo of the mantle with the horns and the crazy ostentatious mirror and the inlaid wood floors...
dear god, if i could fit that into a 9ft travel trailer, and add two gilt bird cages to keep my kids safely tucked away while mobile, i'd be all set...
Love the turquoise cabinet and the piles of books. The best idea I have seen lately is using a couple of "L" brackets to float books on. They are cheap and it looks so cool to have all these piles of books just floating on the walls.
all of them are great... i really love the last one. *except for stacking the books!*
one time i had a bedroom that was the room over the entrance way. very small. I did a built in book shelf, painted the walls brown, and the ceiling sky blue. it worked.
I love the pics! You have great taste. And, the pictures fit with what I imagine your personality to be too!
I've been wanted to do something different with my living room for awhile too. But, I hardly know where to start! And, we have the tall, tall ceilings too. So impractical for redecorating! I'm kind of afraid of heights, so that extension ladder sort of freaks me out too.
We once had light gray walls in one of our earlier house with white molding. I loved it. We need bookcases in our house now and we're thinking of built-ins on each side of the fireplace. Loved the splashes of color in your images.
I love it!!!! My living room is fairly small and I painted it a dark color which even though it's pretty, I wish I had gone lighter. Much lighter. I love small touches and the furniture!
Making me want to do a redo here. More organic, more...more...MORE! Yes. And with books. I think it's about time for my books to find a place in my life.
I too love wooden floors - and a fireplace is such a neat thing... Plus I think it always ads atmosphere to a home, when your things has a story somehow...
I love them all... I especially love the blue wardrobe/dresser with the flowers in vases on top. It makes me think of a beach house. I want to live in a beach house.
I LOVE gray on the wall but a bit warmer color. Either way it shifts with the different lights through the day- sometimes mauve, sometimes whitish. I've seen dove gray walls that I love too. Ooh, what fun. The airiness of these rooms is great, books, stacks of books- yeah! That turquoise stand- wow!
thanks for helping me! i am working on some renovations in my place, too! inspiring photos. i also love your sidebar photo of kate in the tub. hope you don't mind but i have done a post with it. best, tammy
