Illuminated in Illustration: Erin Petson

all illustrations by the wonderful, amazing-eyed Erin Petson, who I would faint with joy if she were ever to illustrate scenes for my novel

  1. That first one is just terrific -- at first I thought about Sylvia Plath and then I felt guilty for thinking of something so morose and then I thought getting a pie out of the oven? What do you think?

  2. my first thought was Sylvia, too! it's the commentary on what a housewife is supposed to be, what she looks like, and what she feels like...probably the artist didn't mean that at all, but once you've viewed a piece of art, what it means to you is What It Means...

  3. Oh I love a good lampshade hat. That's totally what I should be wearing while I bake pies.
