Things That Would Make Perfect Sense To Do That I Don't Do
drink at least four cups of green tea a day
have sex once a day *
floss once a day
go to sleep by 11pm every night
avoid watching multiple, late night episodes of The First 48 and Forensics to avoid subsequent PTSD like symptoms and obsessive checking of windows and doors in the early am hours
avoid drinking coffee while eating small amounts of food to avoid subsequent trembling limbs and random crying jags
organize my clothes washing schedule **
* with my husband
** might be impossible due to vast amounts of linens, blankets, towels and clothing accumulated
by five people and two dogs

Oh God. Beware those lists- they have a tendency to grow. :)
i should sort of follow your list as well. although my sex would not be with your husband.
just to clarify.
xo
Why, why, why is it so hard to floss? And sleep during the night instead of wishing for it during the day?
Why?
I just found your blog today via jj keith & I'm happy I did!
This list is fantastic. I totally agree.

Yep. That's just what I should and that I don't, too!
How did you know?
i celebrate this list! especially items 2 and 3. just those two add up to a great amount of magic.
I love this list. Especially the little asterisks.
hmm, you and I have similar lists!
I had to cut out Forensic Files. After watching too many episodes you start thinking everyone is slowly poisoning you with arsenic in your food. It is just not a good show for someone with an overactive imagination.
Ahhh the lists...yes....I can attest to the "wanting to do", those that I should try to do and those that I say I will do...why can't they happen as easily as we can write them down?
Inappropriate and oversharing comment regarding * - My body is telling me my peak is in my 40s.
Just something for you and your husband to look forward to.
Making a list like this to identify where I'm going wrong makes perfect sense... but I'm too scared. It would be enormously long ;-)
I second the going to sleep by 11pm and drinking coffee with a proper amount of food. Washing schedule would be lovely but I can't see it ever happening. x
those all make sense...and after sitting and contemplating, I am sure I would be able to come up with at least...oh 100 more, if i had the afternoon :) Happy New Year!
How can two adults with four dogs and three cats have so much laundry--smiling while I type. I wash clothes or something made of fabric every day.
I watch law and order criminal intent. That is my television program. I feel better knowing Eames and Goren are out there, so I sleep when I can better. PTSD is part of my life so I just write and count my blessings.
Glad I found your site and I enjoy your writing so much. Happy New Year.
you can do it Maggie!
I should floss more often, too. :-)
As for green tea and sex (with my wife), I'm glad I'm on schedule. :-)
Greetings from London.
And why is that? I have the same problem. And it just doesn't make sense because I know better.
Add this one to your list:
Quit being so self-recriminatory.
Love you, dear.
I've got this mint green tea and maybe because of it's novelty I have been drinking it much more often.
I do the same 48hrs/Forensic Files thing... I'll be watching it in bed and I'll hear something and shake Jeremiah...'Did you hear that?'
Resolutions by another name?
Those Forensic Files things get me too. Oh, and the documentaries on supernatural events - those will keep my up at night spooked.
I'm glad to see you didn't call the list your new year's resolutions.
O, I have my own list like this too...5 miles long.
If i may, I would also add to that list (for myself) to make sure and take a shower at least once a day! For some reason I always talk myself out of that one because I have a "better" idea like laundry, cooking or some other crazy project...
Now, go do them. If only once so you will feel better and then...well, what would you write about if everything was perfect? Off I go, hugs from here dear self critic Maggie May :)
I watch the First 48 and get paranoid too. Laugh.
Happy New Year, dear Maggie!
* with my husband OR by myself :)
There are lots of things I should do that would make perfect sense, but I never get around to doing those things. I guess I just like making things hard on myself.
Hmmm, if I were to make a list it would look very similar to this... as I sit drinking my third cup of coffee on an empty belly.
I'm right there with you, with the exception of watching reruns as I don't have a TV. But I'm paranoid by nature and end up checking windows and doors anyway.
This could be MY list. Seriously. Especially the one about watching the Forensics shows and then obsessively checking all the doors and windows over and over again to make sure the serial killers aren't coming to get me. Try watching those Paranormal shows b/c the ghosts can get you ANYWHERE. Lordy.
Wonderful goals...glad you clarified about the daily sex thing ;)
Happy 2010, Maggie May. May it be full of light and laughter to balance out all your heavy thoughts...
::Hugs::
oh i love you guys, i'm laughing!!!
Self recrimination, is that a fancy word for guilt? NO guilt allowed there Maggie May- you are a wonder woman!
THIS IS HILARIOUS, and I know exactly how you feel. Especially the sex once a day thing...I'm still working on that!
I have a very long list floating around in my head. It would make perfect sense to write it down and follow it, but the points only come to me late at night when I'm drifting off and still enough to make sense of the chaos I try and keep track of during the day.
Oh how I long for a concise and orderly mind!
it's like a demented list of new year's resolutions. or not.
with that, i think i'll have some green tea.
Awesome list. I need to go floss now.
Totally. Think how happy my husband (and really, me too) would be if we did the sex thing once a day.
Love your blog so much
Have you seen Dr. Oz's resolutions? I was googling "resolutions" and found his. 1. Never be hungry; 2. More sleep; 3. More sex. DOCTOR OZ!!! It just might change the world.
Why don't you try to do it. See if it cures what ails ya.
Love the responses to your blog post - I agree with the seeming impossibility of flossing successfully, but I shall try the green tea thing... am I allowed to have honey in it? I'm Indian - need sweet tea :)
