Lola Moon and the No-Good, Very Bad, Terrible Horrible Day

Lola in her 'dream wedding dress' designed by her: she put grandma's long white shirt on and tied in in the back with a pony tail holder, then she put the skirt on and tied the back with a pony tail holder and then tucked the shirt in
UPDATE
Lola wrote a little note in the comments to you all. You guys rock. Thank you for making my sweetface feel so great.

dictated to me by Lola-

First of all I get to school and my underwear are budged up in my pants and are half up all the way up my back. I pull it down as quickly as I can. I get to class and I am the last one in. I realize my best friend Ashley is not in school. Then I realize I don't get picked for the special board because it was Ashley's turn and she was going to pick me! Then it's recess time. I feel something wet going down my pants. I realize I spilt water or juice while I was eating my lunch. Well then we have math time right after recess. I get in math and I have a funny feeling and suddenly I sneeze-farted* in front of 23 kids!, second and third graders. My teacher even snorkle-laughed. McKalea said 'who was that?' and someone said 'Lola!' and everyone laughed. I was so embarrassed I cried a little quiet tears. Then at home my mommy and I went on a walk with Bodie and Wolfie and we got in a little fight! That was my day.
*Lola is famous in our family for sneeze-farting, which she has been doing since she was a baby. As you would imagine she simply sneezes and farts at the same time. It's one of the most endearing and ridiculous traits ever in a kid. You should also know that Lola insisted on making the words a color, and picked purple.

Aw shucks, we all have them sweet girl. Hope tomorrow is better. I love the dress "creation," she looks beeeutiful!

Poor little Lola...don't you think a day such as this deserves a blackberry gelato (because it is the most vibrant color of purple), and I just bet it would make you forget all about this horrific day!

Just think, tomorrow is Friday, and FRIDAYS are always the best!

Aw, poor Lola. But how freakin' adorable is she?!

so i'm reading these responses to lola and she listens to the one from nfmgirl and says

'oh who is that one from?'

i say ' nfmgirl '

and she pauses and says 'oh. i thought it was from a chicken.'

then slowly points to nfmgirl's picture.

she always, always makes me laugh!

Poor Lola -- I hope that tomorrow is a better one. Perhaps she'll have dreams, like the kid in where the wild things are. In any case, that photo of her is so beautiful.

I've sneeze farted before in class, only I was the teacher. Now I squeeze tight every time I sneeze, just in case.

Vic said...

"budged up" is exactly what happens to underwear. She has a way with words just like her mom.

Hang in there Lola!

gojirama said...

Beautiful, beautiful girl, have a better day tomorrow.

Maggie May said...

Steam Me= Lola says that is exactly what she will do from now on, and thank you for the advice.

GOJI!! Oh momma. It's so wonderful to hear from you.

Vic she really does!

Lola, sweetie, I work with a grown up man who takes great pride in farting (without sneezing) and thinks it's funny. It's not and I wish he was even a little bit embarrassed. He's just rude. You are polite and that's why you feel embarrassed. The sneeze farting just happens, it could be worse, you could be 49, sad, and trying to fart to impress people.

PS: I love your dress Lola. You're the coolest looking kid I've seen today.

It might have been a tough day for Lola but it made me really happy to read what she wrote about it.
And I think her dress design is marvelous!

Your daughter is a poet. And sneeze-farting sounds like an amazing talent. She should maybe do a little victory dance every time and turn it into a good thing.

you know what...Im having a No- good, very bad terrible horrible day too and seeing that photo and reading those words has bought a huge smile to my face.
Lola you are beautiful and I think the sneeze farting is a rare and very clever talent!

I sneeze-fart all the time. It's not as funny when it happens at a job interview.

Oh my - hugs to Lola - what a beautiful girl... I am hoping that it was a mch better day for her today... Hope you have a great weekend :-)

I think writing about such a day using the colour purple has got to help.
Wise choice, Lola.
And that dream wedding dress is beautiful - you have a talented designer there.

looking at lola in her dream wedding dress leads me to believe that miss lola must be spiritual kin to my amzi and laura's fashion annie. such style!

i would suggest they start a club, but iconoclasts such as these ladies wouldn't dare join a club, with other members. just like johnny cash, they walk alone.

if lola would like to check out one of her soul sisters, there is a particularly fabulous shot of amzi in a leopard print bathing suit paired with a fairy skirt on my '89 days of gratitude' post.

You know, even as a grown-up, I can recall "those" days at school as a kid and still cringe.

But, I just love that dress! I suspect Ms Lola has many, many days of the "special board" ahead! :)

erin said...

She's a delight, and her dress is beautiful.
My oldest daughter Rose has been oddly gassy her whole life. I'm pretty sure she farts every half hour.

Courtney said...

Oh nuts! Hopefully today will be a better day!

PS: A boy jabbed me in my side in art class one time and scared a little fart out of me. It happens to us all, not to worry little lady!

Ms. Moon said...

Sometimes it's hard just to bear the beauty of our children. Lola must give you so many of those times.

Sarcastic Bastard said...

Do I hear Lola the famous fashion designer? Tell her I said good job on the dress. I'd get married in that, if I were ever to marry again, which I'm NOT. EVER.

May today be a better day for the beautiful Lola! She has certainly inherited her Mother's way with words and expressing herself. Love the purple!

Petula said...

The perfect dream dress... Sorry about the horrible day. I hope the next one is much better. :)

Captain Dumbass said...

I love your dress, Lola! And don't worry, EVERYBODY does something embarrassing in school. You've done yours, now it's your friends turn.

Petit fleur said...

I love this girl! She's got spunk, a great sense of aesthetics (love me some purple) and a lovely spirit.

Great dress too.

Chin up Lola and have a great weekend.

That was quite possibly the most endearing thing I have ever read. And tell Lola that one day she will find someone who finds her sneezefarts as charming as her mother finds them.

Sadly, I don't have time to meet up with you here in SD. Bryan's dad and tons of aunts live here, so coupled with the wedding we are attending it's a total family fest. :/

Next time?

my brother sneeze-farted in a room full of people once.... he might have gotten away with it except that i had to burst out with laughter followed by uncontrollable giggles for nearly an hour. in the end, i was the one who looked silly.

I love her photo - great invented dress. And her tomorrow will be better.

That's precious. Bad days were so much less bad in second grade...

oh sweet baby. i had lunch with my first grader today and it all just reminded me of how sad and hard childhood is

krista said...

oh, sweet lola!

krista said...

whoa...that posted without me hitting post.
i think lola is a genius for getting this one public humiliation done and over with. it's much worse at 12.

Laura said...

Wow I can remember how terrible things could seem when you are young. I hope today was better. She is so adorable.

Maggie May said...

Lola says:

' Thank you for the compliments. I just don't think Captain Dumbass is appropriate for a little seven year old second grader! But anyway thank you, they were so nice and I felt great. My tomorrow was better, it was so great I feel like talking about it! The day after was much better too. I practiced for my onstage cheer at Friday Flag. Wish me luck!
Love,
Lola'

hahah! captain dumbass got called out by a second grader!!

Katy said...

Lola I love your wedding dress - don't worry my husband hiccup - burps and it sounds so wierd comingout of a big, tattooed, hairy man - a little tiny hiccup and burp - then he ususally farts cause he is laughing so hard - likemy Pop used to say 'better out than in'. It all gets better lovely x

Rachael said...

She is adorable! And you know, everyone farts, but only the very special can sneeze fart. My kids (who think fart humor is hilarious) would probably think she is very cool - like someone who could belch the alphabet or something. Although I can certainly empathize with her embarrassment. Hope those children have short memories and the horrible, very-bad day becomes a distant one!

Captain Dumbass said...

Ouch! That hurt, Lola. Ok, how about Captain Dumb-bum?

Maggie May said...

Captain, Lola says that's fine.

And she looks beautiful, barefoot and all. And one day in the future, when she least expects it, she will sneeze-fart and the right man, a man who will eat it up and come back for more, will devour her woman. Then the dress...

jb said...

Lola nothing to be embarrassed about I think I'm going to try to sneeze fart myself just to see if i can get my friends to laugh. You are as wonderful as your mother.
She must be so proud of you little angel. I love your dress absolutely stunning.

Tomorrow will be a great day I swear. Now go have some fun with your mom.

hugs alot

Oh Lola, I've been there girl. And I remember one time when I tipped over backward in my chair in the middle of a silent classroom full of people who already seemed to be staring at me. But you seem to have learned the best way to take back the power that embarassment steals: tell the world! It's always less awful when you can laugh at yourself. Good luck this year!
