Bad Romance

Mr. Curry crushes on her. She reminds me of Barbara Streisand: the face beautiful but unconventionally so, the attitude spunky and bright and a bit OCD, the outfits over the top, the voice rich and the range wide, the sense of showmanship epic. She's agressively sexual though, which speaks to the times, who knows what Barb would have been like were she Gaga age. I just hope Gaga doesn't get any skinnier. She's lost the mandatory 10 pounds people do when they first get famous, and if she shrinks anymore she will lose her amazing body and be like every other emaciated actress/model/musician in Hollywood.

Pretty wild stuff. I thought of Babs but also of Cher when she had all the work done on her face. And it was so distracting to see Elmo floating by on the bottom of the video...

Agreed.

Did you see her Owl headdress at the VMA's? Freaky-deaky. You've got to be all kinds confident to wear that weirdness. Ga Ga is everywhere these days, isn't she? So probably the new Madonna?

I don't like those skinny, bony backs like hairless cats. Shades of the 70's. Is there no originality left in the world? Sorry- definitely not my type but glad I got to see her!

I think most celebrity women would be a lot more beautiful if they gained the 10 lbs. back. Lady Gaga videos are always interesting...you never know what she will come up with next.

That is the single most weirdest thing I've seen in a while. She is sort of Streisandesque, I see what you mean.

My guess is that Mr. Curry is not so much crushing as getting a genetically programmed response to high heals, skimpy clothes, gyrating hips and a cute chick touching herself... Men can't help that, it's biological! heheheh! Hell, if that's the case, I even crushed... just a little! (Sorry Mr. Curry, I know that sounds a trifle sexist, but I think there may scientific research to back it.) :-)

Alix yes! that was awesome.

Starr that's cool. cup of tea, and all that!

Petit haha! Mr. Curry will be reading this and I'm smiling thinking of what he'll say :)

I watched this last night right before bed. Not my best idea ever.

I love her voice. And her fashion/videos/dance all intrigue me. She's living art.

Also, the whole costume over the face thing she does? At first I thought, oh come on. But then, after a couple times, I decided I liked it. I don't know what she intends to express with that, but I take it as the idea of fashion consuming/masking the individual. Which I'm so on board with.

Not sure why, but I can't stand her. She gets on my fucking nerves. I'm not sure she's all there. Well, neither am I, but whatever.

I agree with you. Too skinny is no good. Enough is enough! She is amazing though, isn't she?

So funny that you posted this video because my hubby sent me an email yesterday linking to the video and proclaiming his crush. I prefer the video for Paparazzi with the delicious Alex/Eric from True Blood.

"Poker Face" is one of my guiltiest pleasures.

GAH! There are so many things about that video that are just WRONG! The creepy cats, the creepy guys, the DEAD POLAR BEAR she drags behind her?

Gonna go shower now...lol

See i don't know....she kinda scares me x

the costumes/styling? AMAZING! even an old geezer like me has to admit that is High Art.

that prance in the gold studded get-up? classic.

thanks for sharing, maggie may!

If Lady Gaga spent more time prefecting her craft and less time trying to get attention, she would be an amazing singer. Personally I can't stand her, and I do agree with you, she is to skinny as most famous women are.

Jason, as himself said...

I LOVE this video. I hadn't seen it before, and I just heard this song yesterday for the first time. I'm crushing on Lady Gaga, too. She is captivating, and I like how you said it...her showmanship it epic.

I hadn't seen any of her videos, and heard about her over-the-topness. It is sort of a Britney Spears meets Cher plus ten, but the lyrics are what caught me. How intelligent to realize those underpinnings of emotion, so subconscious.

Collin Kelley said...

THis is my favorite song right now and the video is brilliant. GaGa is bringing back the kinda of pop I like and this video rivals anything Madonna's ever done.

ditto to everything you said here. Hx

You know, I'm gonna say it: I don't understand why she has to carry-on like she does. She's pretending to be all these different personages, and it makes me wonder what's she's really like. In an age when so many young ladies look to celebrities for inspiration, they see this woman that is covering her very identity. Anyways, I can understand why guys crush on her...but it's just not for me!

I always think more of Annie Lennox than Babs when I see Lady GaGa - real talent, entirely original (okay, her music is derivative in a lot of ways), and completely attunted to the ethos of her time.
