Castaways

All is flux. Nothing stays still.- Heraclitus

It is only with the heart that one can see rightly: what is essential is invisible to the eye.- Antoine de Saint-Exupery

I do not know what I may appear to the world, but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the sea-shore, and diverting myself now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay undiscovered before me.- Isaac Newton
Rational consciousness...is only one special kind of consciousness, whilst all about it, parted by the flimsiest of screens, there lie potential forms of consciousness entirely different.- William James
Will you, won't you, will you, won't you, will you join the dance?- Lewis Carroll

And as she looked about, she did behold, / How over that same door was likewise writ, / Be bold, be bold, be bold, and everywhere, Be Bold.- Edmund Spenser

You have captured some treasured moments with your camera. These images will give you great comfort when your children have grown up, moved away and started their own lives. Hope you have a wonderful day!

It seems like you are in a constant state of trying to calm me down, which I totally get, but these blogs are crazy beautiful and now I want an ocean.

i love the photos and the lazy afternoon -- i spent many an hour in La Jolla many years ago when I'd fly out from NYC to see a doctor down there for Sophie -- it seems like a lifetime ago. your photos and quotes bring it back, in a good way...

I'm doing the catch-up: Love your beach pictures- how is it you always find the right quote? It makes me hate you. Which leads me to the second- the Populars can eat it. I'll help you shove it down their throats myself. I think you're fascinating, my dear.

I wish our section of the Pacific was warm enough to run through right now and not cold enough to kill you.

What a poetic post! Every picture is a treasure, and I love the quotations you've chosen.

I'm so envious of your blue sky and gilded sea and healthy brown skin. Winter is really grating on me now.

BTW, everytime I see your header it just makes me feel happy. Joy is in short supply these days. I think that I will bookmark this post, MM.

Lovely photos and words. Thanks for the birthday wishes - all the way from your side of the world. Goodness me. I'll spend some time later this week going over your blog. Can't wait. Gotta run now.
