One of my favourite books. I think it has a fantastically strong first-person narrator, and also one of the best first lines ever :) (Although the first line of Captain Corelli's Mandolin is also a contender). :)
I have never read the book, but recognize the author as the one who wrote the original 101 Dalmations -- which is so much more charming and layered than the Disney cartoon version. I'll have to look for this one at the library. Thanks for inspiring me.
I saw this film a few months ago, and it was so romantic! Beautiful styles, too.
