strange and wonderful minutae of life in scenes from a bathroom

a pig on a skatboard. Lola spells it skatboard, and so shall i. i can offer no explanation of this pig and skatboard, only silent wonder and appreciation.

a sign purchased on family vacation to visit Auntie Elizabeth in Nashville, Tennesse
and a stack of books and magazines

our toothbrushes get lonely. so Lola made them a plane to fly and visit their relatives, the hairbrushes

' brush brush brush ' says the giraffe ( i painted this bathroom all by myself. and it shows!)

2$ at the local thrift store, couldn't love it anymore (i'm a poet and i know it)

from the downtown San Diego store Magical Child, a bucket for many objects

lovely for skin smells so good does not kill us slowly

unhappiness is forehead picking. happiness is painting your nails red anyway.

do not pick your forehead. do not pick your forehead. do not pick your forehead.
(oh, i'm talking to myself and not you!)
p.s. WHERE did you get that picture that you have on your blog with the 'light is always on' caption??? love it and i want to be there right now at this very moment.

I just took a bubble bath with my little plum tonight and I was thinking all the while how much I loved baths and bathrooms and then I open your blog to see this. Bathrooms must be in the air tonight.

One of my daughters had the Degas in her room, growing up. Same one.
Love the color of your bathroom. Green is never wrong.

Tiffany Kadani said...

Haha! Cousins! That is too cute. And getting a Degas for $2 is a dream come true. I bet it's worth millions on the Antique Roadshow.

I collected pigs as a young girl. I had an awful collection that grew and grew until one day in high school I had to tell my friends I was done.

But I did have pig soap and a pig shirt that oinked. The mini-skateboard and rocketship are sweet, though.

You're beautiful. I sent you something on my blog -- it'll appear Friday.

I love these snapshots of your family taken with one beautiful eye.

What a great post! Talk about a nurturing homelife, these minutiae certainly cultivate the imagination. Love the air shuttle service from tootbrushes to hair brushes, and I was delighted by the coincidence that just yesterday I was seeing the original of the Degas dance class painting at the Fundación Mapfre in Madrid (where it is on loan from the Musée d'Orsay).

I love the magic of carefully selected objects in a home. They are such a window, aren't they?

I don't know why but I love seeing the minutiae from other people's lives. Like really, really love it.

(pig on skatboard FTW!)

From the pig to the "do not hog" was a nice segue.

Hmmm - I am wearing bright red nailpolish - and it DOES make me happy.

Unhappiness is smoking waaaay too many cigarettes!

Oh that piggie is totally adorable, I used to have a little piggie collection but got tired of the country theme. I still kept a few key favorites though, this would definitely be a keeper :-)
