Whatever Lola Wants.... 9 Years Old!!!

Happy Birthday Lola Moon!!

Nine years ago she was born into a tub of water at Best Start Birthing Center's calm place of midwifery- I wrote all about it here. The first thing I noticed were her long and delicate fingers, like my sister Luras, not farm hands, square like mine. She was chubby and long and healthy as a horse. In the last nine years she has been an absolute delight. Her spirit is tender and always seeking beauty, humorous without edge, she is captivated with magic and joy and creation. Her mind dwells on fashion designs, musicals ( we just watched Singing In The Rain and she loved it ) , dancing, singing ( but not Justin Bieber..I teasingly sang 'baby baby baby oooo' to her at her birthday dinner and she announced I was totally ruining the party ) creating clubs ( she created Friendship Finders, a school club where her and girlfriends seek out lonely kids on the playground and talk to them. PROUD. ) creating art and her family. I tell her I love her a billion times a day and she says it back. It is usually the first thing we say to each other in the morning and the last before sleep. Her favorite show is Happy Days, her favorite color is orange, she loves Taylor Swift's music, swimming and taking photos. She sneeze farts. She wrinkles her nose when she laughs. She is sending the $25 she got from her grandparents for her birthday to Kate Mcrae. She is my heart's joy and more than I ever could have imagined in a daughter. We love her more than a big zambonie.

On Sunday we made Valentine cards for her class while listening to the blues.

Lola is such a beautiful person. The Friendship Finders might possibly be the best idea ever in this often sharp and jagged world of ours.
This post makes me happy--the Valentines and all things Lola Moon.
p.s. tell Lola Singing in the Rain (from one musical lover to another) is one of the best. If she likes old movies- Duck Soup (not a musical per se) is one that captured my heart when I was about her age. It's Silly and has catchy little one-liners.
Happy Birthday from the Urdaneta fam! :)

That is certainly ALOT to be proud of! The club she started in school to seek out lonely kids... WOW. That is so wonderful. I wish more kids could spread love like that. It is a beautiful reflection of you as a parent.

Oh she's darling. I'm proud of her about the Friendship Finders...I did the same when I was in grade school & it was a good lesson...you can't imagine (or maybe you can) how happy I was to read this...I'm way over 9 years old now but it makes me so happy to read about this. You go, Lola. (And love that she loved Singing in the Rain:)

Happy Birthday, Lola! You have good taste in Musicals. I love Singing in the Rain! You might like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, though they are in black and white.

Maggie, you have a beautiful daughter! But, you know that. Her club is wonderful.

I'm late, but I do wish Lola the best year ever!

BTW, that photo of all of you is priceless. The look on Mr. Curry's face while wearing the party hat juxtaposed with everyone else's zaniness... I don't know, I just cracked up and my heart was warmed.
