Dear Zachary: A Documentary Film

I watched this film a few nights ago. Initially I found the style of filming and editing distracting, but eventually it became a powerful asset to underlining the horror and injustice that ebbs behind this story. At the point when I thought I knew where the story was going and what the outcome would surely be, there was a shocking and horrific turn of events. Those who loved the murdered in this film have shown such truly incredible strength and activism; the realism in which their suffering is expressed and edited is powerful, as the raw truth is always powerful. What makes this film uniquely powerful is the passionate, articulate expression of grief and rage by the parents of Andrew Bagby. Their honesty, the eloquence of their words, the specific and pointed language they use to express their experience- it is not to be forgotten. I was incredibly moved and highly recommend this to those who can stomach the pain surrounding the events that motivated the film.
